Thanda After-School Project
   Netball Program
The Thanda Netball Program meets four days a week on the lower fields and enrolls 24 girls from Khathi High School. The program gives the girls a safe space to engage in athletic activity and discuss issues that affect them in their community, such as HIV/AIDS and teenage pregnancy.

The Netball Program Officially Launches!
Last term netball was an informal drop-in program. Starting in Term 2, netball has been made a formal Thanda program. The class meets four days a week. On Mondays and Wednesdays, the girls are fed at Khathi High School then walk down to the netball field for stretches and warm-up exercises. We play netball for about 2 hours, concluding with a discussion about current issues in the girls lives. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the girls stay at Khathi and work on homework and their English skills. The netball program now feeds the girls lunch each day after school. Our new Teacher Resource Center at Thanda provides books for the homework sessions as well as materials for English instruction.

Thanda Testimonial
"Thanda helps our community, because the youth doesn’t have as much time to spend doing bad things after school. It helps us to pursue our careers. Thanda also improves the way we interact with the community."
